iKey is a patented proprietary platform developed to automatically analyse the patterns on the head of the optic nerve at the back of the eye. We combine machine vision and artificial intelligence to deliver screening solutions for glaucoma, cybersecurity and personal identity.

 

What we do 

Partnering with TOPCON Corporation, we photograph the optic nerve in the eye using specialist TOPCON cameras which are non invasive and require no eye drops for dilation. Our teams of engineers develop and adapt our patented technology to automatically screen for optic nerve identity, age and change.

 

 Our story 

iKey was invented by CEO eye surgeon Dr Kate Coleman to screen for glaucoma blindness and to help solve a global epidemic where millions of people lose their sight needlessly.  

Dr Kate Coleman is founder of Right to Sight, an international charity which she established in 2006 to empower African eye surgeons through cutting edge technology and training to tackle the epidemic of preventable and needless blindness (in particular glaucoma) in Africa. 

 In 2016, on returning from a visit to one of the charity’s eye hospitals in Kenya, she had her photograph taken and stored by an airport security camera. It was at this moment that the idea came to use artificial intelligence to identify a healthy eye compared to one where the optic nerve was thinning with early glaucoma damage. 

 

iKey is a proprietary platform invented to deliver solutions across a number of fields. It uses machine vision and artificial intelligence to develop algorithms for three main uses:

 

·      Biometric analysis 

·      Indicator of glaucoma probability and progression

·      Indicator of age (probability of under 16 years versus adult)
